Le Mans and its surroundings, the city of Le Mans, officially recognised as a “City of Art and History” and known as the city of the Plantagenets. Le Mans is also the administrative centre of the Sarthe, the greenest and most wooded area in western France. With its 150,000 inhabitants, Le Mans is the third most populous city in the Loire region, has the third largest student population among cities with fewer than 250,000 inhabitants, and is the third most important city in the Loire region for culture and tourism.

Tourism is boosted by our mythical endurance car race, LES 24 HEURES DU MANS, the first automobile grand prix took place in 1923. Le Mans also has its museums (regional art museum, fine arts museum, car museum, archaeological museum….), as well as one of the oldest French jazz festivals, the Europa jazz festival.
Its four cinema complexes offer not only the latest films, but also the rarest ones. There are many other attractions to discover around the city and in our villages.

In 1820 the Le Mans economy took off with the creation of the Mutuelle immobilière du Mans, the first insurance company to be created in France, which became MMA (Mutuelle du Mans Assurance) in 1906. At a strategic location between Paris and the West Atlantic, Le Mans is an exceptional crossroads close to the major regional and European centres. Just 54 minutes from Paris via high-speed train, Le Mans is at the heart of a motorway hub that links Paris, Rennes, Nantes, Alençon, Tours and Rouen.
You will find everything you need in terms of services and entertainment in this highly attractive region.
